One of the biggest challenges my clients face is growing their business or building toward retirement without losing sight of what matters most. My job is to make sure they never have to choose between the two.
My fascination with business and entrepreneurship started young, and it never left me. After beginning my career at one of Canada's largest insurers in 1998, I spent years learning the industry from the inside before taking a leap toward a lifelong goal: in 2004, I founded Bayview Financial Group to deliver truly independent financial planning, wealth management, and employee benefits advice without the constraints of a single institution.
Today, with nearly three decades of experience and a GBA (Group Benefits Associate) designation, I lead a team that serves clients across both employee benefits and retirement planning. We help employers build benefits and group retirement programs that actually attract and keep great people, and we help individuals turn a lifetime of savings into a retirement that lasts. Our 97% client retention rate reflects something simple: clients stay because the advice works.
I work with two types of people. Business owners and employers who need to attract and retain great talent and want a benefits and group retirement strategy that's built around their business, not off a shelf. And individuals approaching retirement or already living it, who need a clear, confident plan for turning a lifetime of saving into lasting income.
I take a no-jargon, no-nonsense approach. I ask the right questions, simplify the complex, and give advice that actually makes sense whether it's your business, your retirement, or the legacy you want to leave behind. Providing clarity, reassurance and confidence is the part of my work I enjoy most. I'm very fortunate to say that a day at the office rarely feels like work.
Outside the office, my colleagues would describe me as focused and goal-oriented, with a well-timed sense of humour. Ask my kids, though, and they'll tell you I'm completely silly, usually trying to make them laugh when I'm not hugging the stuffing out of them. My wife Amber and I stay busy doing what parents do, and when there's time to breathe, I love to travel, explore new cultures, and meet people along the way.
I'm a member in good standing with Advocis: The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, the Estate Planning Council of Winnipeg, the Smart Health Benefits Association, and the Canadian Group Insurance Brokers network.
